Support Request: PDF download issue

Description

Hello Support Team,

We are currently implementing your product and have encountered an issue with handling PDF files. We are using the Chrome Browser Engine.
Reports (up to a few pages) in PDF format are downloaded by users from an internal IIS server. Users can then print these reports on local printers.
Our main priority is maximum security — a user should be able to log into the intranet web application, open/download the PDF report, and print it. That’s all.

Issue:
With the current configuration, when the Download button on the web page is pressed , the SiteKiosk (download) window appears three times (once as an empty window and twice displaying the PDF content). A screenshot is attached.
What could be causing this issue?
Additionally, what would be the best way to configure the system to meet our requirements?

Hello,

in general, there is no known problem with SiteKiosk Classic Windows in this regard and the download is only done once. Here is a page for testing (e.g. select the 3rdPartyLicenseTexts.pdf with attachment or attachment + filename): http://demo.borland.com/testsite/download_testpage.php

In general, I always recommend setting a direct link to the PDF on the web page, which is then also displayed directly in the browser – like e.g. here: https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/documents-downloads/

In this case I would also recommend deactivating full screen mode (deactivated by default) and make sure that the tab bar of the Chrome browser skin is displayed (displayed by default).
You will find the settings at >Start Page & Browser>Fullscreen and at >Start Page & Browser>Customize>Browser toolbar (you still can hide other elements if you wish).
The reason for this is that communication between websites displayed in SiteKiosk Classic Windows is only possible between browser tabs.

If this does not help, please send us your SiteKiosk configuration (...\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg), a current log file (...\SiteKiosk\Logfiles) and step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the behaviour. Then we can check it again on a test system.

Or take a look at our current product SiteKiosk Online https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/sitekiosk/

SiteKiosk Online is designed from scratch and, except for the start mode of the client software, everything is configured on the SiteKiosk Online server (in the projects you can publish on the client computers). With SiteKiosk Online you can create interactive content as well as display scheduled and event-driven content. The licensing of the client is also handled by the server and you no longer need to store any licensing information on the client.

You can test everything before you purchase any license.
Simply create a so-called team at https://sitekiosk.online

After creating and logging in to your team, you can create a new project under >Projects (e.g. with Browser Template), which can then be published to the SiteKiosk Online Client(s), that you have registered to the team.

The client software can be downloaded under >Dashboard>Downloads (there is client software for Windows and for Android). System requirements: https://sitekiosk.online/help/en/SystemRequirements.html

After installing the SiteKiosk Online Client & registering it with your team (there is also a client for Windows that automatically registers the client with your team), you can log in to your team at sitekiosk.online and publish the project.
Here is some more information about the client: https://sitekiosk.online/help/en/SiteKioskClient.html

There is also an online documentation available:
